Sterile Compounding CE Courses
The Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center (KPIC) at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, Columbia campus provides sterile product training programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that are designed to meet current and emerging educational needs. KPIC programs are based on current regulatory guidelines specified by USP <797> and USP <800> standards. We strive to provide affordable access to high-quality continuing education programs, related to sterile compounding. Participants, who satisfactorily complete a program, receive a certificate of completion, as well as ACPE CE credits. Certificate of completion courses may include a home study component that is completed by the participant prior to attending a workshop. Live one or two-day workshops provide the practical application of the current USP standards. The workshops emphasize “hands-on” practice at an individual level in a state-of-the-art sterile compounding training facility, as well as, completion of core competencies based on current USP standards.
BASIC STERILE COMPOUNDING TRAINING COURSES
Aseptic Technique Training Course: (7.5 hours home study, 16 hours live CE credit) This is a comprehensive introductory sterile compounding training course, which includes a review of USP Chapter <797>. Participants, who satisfactorily complete a program, receive a certificate of completion, as well as ACPE CE credits. This course was developed to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in aseptic technique and the basics of sterile compounding based on USP <797> standards. The course includes a home study component that will be completed by the participant prior to attending the workshop. The live two-day workshop will review the
Chapter 797 standard requirements, and teach the practical application of the standards, to include the basics of low and medium risk sterile compounding by emphasizing the “hands-on” practice at an individual level. The participant will also complete the core competencies required by current USP <797> standards in a state-of-the-art facility.

Basics of Chemotherapy Compounding with a Review of USP <800> Training Program: (8 hours live CE credit). Completion of the basic aseptic technique course or prior sterile compounding experience is highly recommended before taking this course. This course was developed to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in basics of chemotherapy compounding based on USP <800> standards. This is an introductory chemotherapy compounding course where the participant receives a certificate of completion, as well as ACPE CE credits. This live one-day workshop will review the
Chapter 800 standard requirements, and provide the practical application of the basics of chemotherapy compounding by emphasizing the "hands-on" practice at an individual level. The participant will complete the core competencies required by current USP Chapter <800> standards in a state-of-the art facility.

MANAGEMENT LEVEL TRAINING COURSE
Update on Compliance with Standards for Sterile Compounding with Emphasis on USP Chapters <797> and <800>: This course is for individuals who oversee sterile compounding facilities and are responsible for ensuring compliance with current minimum practice standards. The course will focus on the practical application of the "musts" and the "shoulds" from USP chapters <797> and <800> through the use of tools and best practice recommendations. The target audience is individuals practicing and/or responsible for compliance with sterile compounding standards.
